Hunter Havoc 2: Wraylas' Take

Beast Mastery Hunter

Before patch 5.0.4 I like most endgame raiding hunters was rocking the Survival spec because it was the best DPS spec. I was doing about 22-25k on boss fights. after patch 5.0.4 my DPS as survival dropped to 18-20k on bosses. That didn't feel right to me. So I looked around and read a couple of the highly credited hunter blogs and they all said the Beast Mastery is the new top build. So I decided to switch to Beast mastery and I am now back up to 22-25k DPS.

It is really important that you get your hit rating and expertise as close to the 7.75% cap as possible. I was able to get both to around 7.5% just be doing some reforging. www.Askmrrobot.com is a great guide to use on reforging, it tells you exactly what to reforge. It also helps with enchants and gems.

Talents:

As far as the actual talent tree goes there isn't a wrong or right. each tier seems to have options that could go either way depending on your play style.

For the level 15 point I picked: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimera.
I picked this just because I want the lower cool down even though I hardly use Disengage or Deterrence in pve. For me they just feel like pvp spells.

For the level 30 point I picked: Wyrvern Sting
I picked this just because I like the idea of having a second crowd control ability if I need it.

For the level 45 pint I picked: Spirit Bond
You could also pick exhilaration if you'd preffer having a 30% at your disposal every 2 minutes. However, I feel the constant 2% healing every 2 seconds is the the better way to go.

For the level 60 point I picked: Dire Beast
I chose this mostly because I liked the idea of having a second pet for 15 seconds every 30 seconds. plus the focus regen with it is nice.

For the level 75 point I picked: Lynx Rush
I feel that lynx rush was giving me a slight dps boost over A murder of crows. It's great for AoE fights.

Glyphs:
The following are glyphs I am using.

Major:
Animal Bond
I really enjoy the extra 10% healing done on me when raiding.

Endless Wrath
Doesn't really help DPS at all but helps keep my pet alive.

Marked for Death
I really enjoy this spell cause it's just one less thing I need to worry about.

Minor:

Minor glyphs have no real affect on DPS. They are all mostly cosmetic and fun. Below I'll list the 3 I use but you really can use what ever you like.

Asspect of the Cheetah

Fireworks

Fetch

So in closing

Hunters have become more fun to play in 5.0.4. Hunters are no longer forced to stand in the back shooting, you can now join your melee friends. With Beast Mastery now being a viable spec for raiding/pve you can now once again bring your rarer pets and spirit beasts to raids. And with the new pet talent system you can bring a former tanking pet and actually dps with him.
