Add-ons and you: A comprehensive guide!

I was recently asked if I could put together a guide for add-ons that can be useful to most guildies, so I will attempt to do so.  this will probably be edited alot and updated so I would recommend clicking on the title and bookmarking this particular article for future reference.

First, if you want to make this easy, I would most definitely recommend getting the Curse Client. This will make installing addons extremely easy.  However, if you wish to install these addons manually,  All you have to do is go to your computer, click you C: Drive (Or whatever drive your WoW is installed on) Find program files, then World of Warcraft, then Interface, and then Add-ons.  you install your addons directly into that folder.  Computer>:C Drive>Program files>World of Warcraft>Interface>Addons

Now to get to the nitty gritty of it all. we'll start with some general addons to make life easier in-game.

GTFO is an addon that essentially gives you an audible sound if you are standing in bad stuff.  It is extremely helpful and I give it my highest possible recommendation.  It works well for those with PC's that are not graphically intensive, even still I still recommend it even if you happen to have a blazing fast PC. it's that helpful.

Deadly Boss Mods (DBM) is an add-on that lets you know when an attack by a boss is coming.  very helpful as it gives you a countdown and audible warning of the incoming attack.  it will even tell you when to run away!  you can't get any better than that.

DrDamage Calculates actual damage or healing that an action does.  very helpful for people that are new to the game or even seasoned veterans.

Skada is a damage/healing meter.  You may have heard of Recount, well Skada is the basic same thing, except that it uses less memory.

Player Mana Percent is an addon that gives you a visual icon of your mana percentage.  helpful if you need that info on the fly instead of just trying to guess.

Now we're moving on to Class specific addons.

Tauntmaster is for tanks.  It gives you bars for each party member to see how much threat they have generated.  If they gain too much aggro, you can click on that bar and Tauntmaster will taunt the mob off the toon gaining aggro.

Mage Nuggets is a caster addon, even though it says mage any caster can use it.  helps you with stats and ratings.  and mages it helps with having portals and teleports accessible without having it on a bar.

Healium (Like a Boss!)
or even Vuhdo (For advanced usage)  These are healing addons, for healers.   they show your healing spells for what is needed at the time.  highly recommended for anyone that wants to heal.  Now some people will suggest Healbot so I'll put it up here, however it seems Healium and Vuhdo are better suited for healing, but use whatever is comfortable to you.

PVP Addons.

AlarBGHelper is a nice addon to know what your opposing team's composition is.  very nice to know how many healers you have to kill, speaking of which...

Healers have to die is exactly what it says it is.  Puts a big red cross on the healers in a Battleground, so you know what to target and kill.

Now we go for more general and aesthetic addons, for Quality of Life issues and what-not.

Carbonite is used to back up your PC files to a server for later...wait wrong Carbonite!!!  This Carbonite is a map and quest tracking addon.   The map feature will go from your standard map to a more google maps type terrain map.

Bartender  is a bar changer on your UI that lets you move and place bars wherever you please.  I use it to stack my 3 main bars on top of each other instead of next to each other, makes it easier to get to abilities for me.

As I said, keep this bookmarked because it will be added to and updated on the fly when needed, enjoy!
